Laser Plantar Wart Removal (REMY 30W)

Plantar warts (verruca plantaris) are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and burrow deep into the thick skin of the sole, making them notoriously resistant to over-the-counter treatments. At Vertex Podiatry, Dr. Golan uses the REMY 30-watt medical-grade diode laser to deliver targeted thermal energy directly into the wart tissue. The laser simultaneously destroys the HPV-infected cells and cauterizes the feeder blood vessels that sustain the wart - cutting off its supply and causing it to resolve over the following days to weeks. Because the laser is precise and controlled, surrounding healthy tissue is largely unaffected. There is no blistering agent (cantharidin/Cantharone), no acid, and no needles required for most cases. The procedure is virtually painless, completed in a single in-office visit in most cases, and patients walk out without bandaging or activity restrictions.

Your appointment begins with a brief evaluation of the wart size, depth, and number of lesions. The REMY laser handpiece is then applied directly over the wart for 10-20 minutes depending on the size and quantity being treated. Most patients feel only a gentle warming sensation. No anesthesia or injection is needed in most cases. After treatment, the area may appear slightly red or pink for a short time. You can resume all normal activities immediately. The wart tissue breaks down over the following 1-4 weeks. For larger or mosaic warts, 2-3 sessions spaced 3-4 weeks apart may be recommended. Dr. Golan will also provide hygiene guidance to prevent HPV re-exposure.
